Any guesses for what will be this year's failed Oscar bait? From the early reviews, I'd say that Hyde Park On Hudson stands a really good shot at this.

@avclub-4a51fda79bbd54b4e7327dd6559b6c4d:disqus That doesn't quite fit the topic as much though, considering it still got a huge amount of nominations. The films listed here either got very few or were snubbed entirely.

@avclub-ef062084a1c4a3584af1d4f8e514ea50:disqus Definitely feel your respect. And I just realized that the reason this wasn't included was because it actually did have the Best Supporting Actress win, which is definitely more than all the other films listed. Still, the hype I heard was for much more than just a few

@avclub-b85d65c39e12a5515c19fd72b6f48199:disqus Actually, Revolutionary Road would've been another good choice for this list. The A.V. Club went with the similarly title Reservation Road instead. Quota on R Roads titles, obviously.

Pretty solid list, although the big one that I see that was missed was Dreamgirls. I can excuse that if you wanted to limit it to only two musicals with Nine and Phantom Of The Opera. Let's see if Les Mis can break the spell of musicals that seem like they're gonna be nominated only to fail at the end.

This was a pretty solid week for me. Definitely can't complain too much about it.

@avclub-d2fa85582f014a9b60b00f48e9529875:disqus Yeah, starting with the first episode of the Eccleston run will be fine for getting into it. While there are plenty of references to the old series, they generally get explained, and any that aren't are just nice touches for the fans.

@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus It certainly seems like that's now a strong possibility, considering that Up All Night premiered to a 1.3. On a night where all the NBC shows did badly, Up All Night definitely had the worse collapse by far, with it even faltering against a rerun of The Big Bang Theory.

I would think it would depend on what scale you use. If it's out of five, then I'd say you're right. If it's out of four, I still think a C is closer to 2 1/2, maybe 2. This is also using the Metacritic methodology, where three out of four stars and a B here are both assigned the numeric value of a 75.
