Segel is much, much, much, much better than Hill and Rogen combined.

@avclub-500e75a036dc2d7d2fec5da1b71d36cc:disqus  I was actually browsing the Wikipedia entry for commercial video game failures and it was claimed that the Pac-Man for the 2600 had more cartridges than consoles. Not that the same thing couldn't be true for E.T., but maybe that's what you're thinking of.

@avclub-b48dd5fc197031c2049eee6b819c8768:disqus I'm not sure about Shakermaker. I know they got sued for Step Out for stealing the chorus melody from Stevie Wonder's Uptight. Because of that, it wasn't able to be included on (What's The Story) Morning Glory and, I believe, Stevie Wonder got a credit for songwriting.

Pretty solid analysis. I'm definitely always down for songs that just have a primal, down and dirty feel to it. Are You Gonna Be My Girl definitely hits the spot.

@avclub-a1451f7d873ad27c458d28af83f955d2:disqus  Actually, the release date for The Delivery Man should help its case, since it came after North, not When I Was Cruel as I think you're remembering it as. Compared to that, The Delivery Man is an amazing burst of energy. I think it just a lot of really great,

@avclub-a1451f7d873ad27c458d28af83f955d2:disqus  I'd agree with most of your assessments. I think I'd switch Imperial Bedroom and Blood & Chocolate though. And the big disagreement is that I like Delivery Man a lot more than you. I think it's one of his best recent albums, and while that may be faint praise to some, I

@avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus That's understandable. It also probably doesn't help that those two majors are just so aligned with one another. The Sociology, while it is somewhat close to Journalism in some ways, has enough to differentiate it and still be pretty interesting by itself. Even if I

@avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus Believe me, that is definitely something I know all too well. I actually haven't applied to too many journalism jobs right now. Focusing more on the Sociology side of things. Of course, I build up a lot of anxiety which makes it hard for to even apply to positions.

@avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus I know, I know. Not the brightest decision to make, especially now that I have little idea of what I want to do in my life. But I figured I'd study things that actually appeal to me that I can be passionate about and worry about the consequences later. Worked out well,

@avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus Aside from being a woman, probably an accurate description. That, and the NYU writing program, at least for my college, is designed to be one of the most pretentious, useless around.

@avclub-fc0917d88195961172274194b3525c14:disqus Mostly because that is genuinely the worst album Elvis Costello, and all the more disappointing because when he's done covers on other albums, they're so damn good. With one or two exceptions, Kojak Variety's covers are so lifeless and boring.

I actually don't know what's more embarrassing, admitting you took Elvis Costello sweat or having the album he sign be Goodbye Cruel World, arguably one of his worst albums outside of the all covers Kojak Variety.

@avclub-1b1f9a3e639ecc53f335314fc9d8403b:disqus Journalism and Sociology. However, the particular class I was referring to was a required writing class that all students at NYU's College of Arts and Science take during their Freshman year.

@avclub-5a1c0dcc8243c086c74ee944052f6f0f:disqus He does. I just mistakenly thought that the explanation he gave was meant to be a ridiculous one and not meant to be taken seriously.

Touche, all. I'll fully admit to being wrong about the Men In Black scene. I think it just came with a lot of frustration in that class over so many techniques and buzzy concepts, such as the Men In Black moment or finding The Beast, that it made me hard to really look at the scene that way.

This week was a bit of a lull for me in terms of pop culture, as much as the weekend
was a lull in general.

PLANT!!!!

I think what makes that scene shine is the line reading by the Cubs player, reinforcing the fact that, yes, comic relief character has been hit in the balls three times by him.

I just enjoy how that Heisler article seems to be the most prominent thing to come out of the A.V. Club. It feels like Steve is going to have to hide his identity every time he tries to interview any comedians at this point.

@avclub-0398e75c1be48a8f66c9cb1c9e6b2052:disqus My apologies. I wrote this out a bit beforehand on Word and copy and pasted to make sure I posted early enough to not get pushed down onto the second page.
