Question For Todd Or Anyone Else
First (not a firstie, I know there are 11 posts at this time), I have to say that this was an excellent read, Todd. Nice job.

@vandermonde: The way it works is to adapt the rambling style of the novel but adapt it in film format. Thus, it's less a straight adaption of the film than a film purporting to be about the adaption of Tristram Shandy, which then goes onto large digressions. I found it incredibly well done and very funny.

@abcdedz: Unfortunately, even that isn't true. I just did a quick Wikipedia search and Mia only got Golden Globe nods for Broadway Danny Rose and Purple Rose Of Cairo, never an Oscar nomination.

Yeah, this is definitely a really good list. It reminds me of when I was in high school and for Valentine's Day decided to make a mix of five break up songs for the school paper. I didn't have the excuse of suffering from a break up; I just like this genre of songs a lot.

Also, with Inglourious Basterds, that was also a film where the person who reviewed it (Keith) ended up saying later on that he severely underrated that film. So, it probably would've gotten a much higher grade if it had been reviewed several months later rather than the day of.

@ColHapablap: Premiere date is Nov. 8.

@Dumbledore: If you haven't read the Keith Moon biography, Moon by Tony Fletcher, you should definitely check it out. An incredibly great read. What that book postulates is that while Keith definitely had a lot of outward fun and joy, he definitely was wracked with a lot of internal sadness that came from the

The Story Of Everest
This episode will always be special for me just because it was the first one I ever saw (and yes, I see there are 52 responses at this time. This is not an attempted firstie). Definitely a very good place to start. The Larry Kleist sketch is just so hilarious and has some of the best lines to

I just came back from it and I was definitely more entertained by it than Nathan was. It's true that the majority of the gorefest comes towards the very end of the film, but what's there is quite over-the-top and hilarious for me.

The Appreciating Anna Kendrick For More Than Looks Thread
I thought that she did a really good job in Up In The Air and if she had managed an upset over Mo'Nique for Best Supporting Actress, I would definitely have supported that. And I think she came off well in this interview. She sounds smart and definitely can

Clocks
Actually a pretty decent song, ruined by the aforementioned overyplay. Still, if I had to overhear one ballad, I'd still rather it be Clocks than anything by Matchbox 20 or Train, of which I heard far too much of around this time.

Wow, just wow. Does it really, really take that much to figure out this is not meant to extol Sandler but make fun of how overly sappy and shitty a lot of his films can be? You all make it sound like the A.V. Club has decided to hail Sandler as a god.

I want to hijack this thread to say that I have now seen The Last Airbender at a midnight screening. And I can confirm that Keith is horribly, horribly right. It is an incredibly awful movie.

The "Hilarity" Of Hannibal Buress
It's interesting that you mention Hannibal Buress, because I actually came back from the UCB theatre in NY for Whiplash, their Monday night free stand up night and Hannibal was one of the people there. This is now the third time I've seen him live in NY and I can't really say that

Yeah, I definitely have fond memories of seeing 1776 in 5th grade, when my middle school wanted to instill a little bit of patriotism and teach us some more about the Revolutionary War period. It's been awhile, but a lot of the scenes still stick with me. Especially notable is the scene where the one Congressman has a

I'm sorry to hear about the low Baaba Maal attendance. He actually did a free show at Central Park yesterday and it was by far just one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. The band had just so much energy, there was indeed a number of pelvic thrusts, Baaba himself came into the audience, then people came to

Not too surprising, considering they did get sued for stealing the riff from the Kinks' 'All Day And All Of The Night' for their 'Hello, I Love You'. As long as they're both good songs, it doesn't bother me that much.

What A Timely Gateway
I've been listening to the Van Morrison albums that I have, loving them, and wondering if a Gateways to Geekery would ever be made. And lo and behold, here it is!

It may air on ABC, but it's produced by Fox. Hence, they would have an interest in it winning.

A fiasco, you can derive some entertainment value from the ineptitude on display. A failure is just down and out horseshit. At least, that's how I've seen it.
