Actually, it's not quite the end of an era for BSB. I was browsing through Wikipedia to see the track lists for the Now series, both to see what was coming up and to see how long it took before there wasn't a song I didn't realize, and the Backstreet Boys will make a reappearance on Now 20 with one of their attempts

The Shakira Song Isn't Too Bad
Although, I definitely enjoyed it more when MTV2 had the Spanish version played. There, her voice sounded a lot more powerful, I didn't have to hear what the lyrics really meant, and visually I got to enjoy her "assets." It was a good combination of things.

You Idiots! These are not them! You've captured their stunt doubles!

I still get a little enjoyment out of Fat Lip and I'm not ashamed to admit it's still on my iPod. Admittedly, I don't listen to it too much. But it's good for reminders of middle school and exploring new music through MTV2. Plus, even back then, the opening rap bit was great for just how gloriously stupid it was.

Well, while I do love a lot of Gorillaz, I still wouldn't slight Blur that much. I've been listening to their Britpop albums pretty heavily and I still think they hold up as really, really good. Parklife in particular, although The Great Escape hits some pretty great heights at some points.

I also have to echo a lot of the fascination of reading this. I also have to say that there is one small aspect of DBag's problem that I can somewhat understand: that being the desire to want to share and discuss art with the people in your life. I'll admit, quite often I stand apart from my peers from a lot of my

It seems to me like you're allowing way too much influence from other people to make you decide whether to get into a form of art. I somewhat understand that, as someone who missed two Pixar films based on my dad having the same prejudice towards animation. But for me, it doesn't matter if something is looked down

Comic Reccomendations
Well, thanks to suggestions from a previous comics panel, I have finally started to pick up some Marvel comics on a weekly basis, going for the work of Jonathan Hickman, Matt Fraction, and soon Ed Brubaker. Given the good advice before, I'm curious if any AV Clubbers could have reccomendations

Three Memorable Scenes For Me
1) The ending shootout sequence in Children Of Men- While Mike D'Angelo famously derided the aesthetic, I don't think I will have ever seen such violence perpetuated in such an intense vivid manner. To me, that sequence in Children Of Men made the action come alive rather than just going

I wouldn't feel that sorry about him being in it, since I'm fairly certain that's a film he shouted as specifically taken for a house purchase. Anything to get the bills paid, which I can admire to some extent.

Led Zeppelin
Probably most Led Zeppelin songs are in this category. Either a random stringing together of blues lyrics or Lord Of The Rings references. No Quarter would be my go to example, in that I barely even remember any of the lyrics for that. I just remember the mood of the piece and the distortion of Robert

Shakermaker is another one that isn't all that great lyrically. And then there's the immortal line from Champaigne Supernova: Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball. Now, admitedly after that, the line is, Where were you when we were getting high? So, in that context, it kind of makes sense, although

The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy
For me, that book helped firmly establish my tastes in humor towards more eccentric, absursidst humor. It also affected a bit of how I view life, realizing how insane so much of it is and how to just kind of roll with most things. Also, when Douglas Adams died in 2001, I do remember

One Of The Best
This could really just as easily be title 18 really awesome Warren Zevon songs. He was just a really amazing lyricist and wrote a combination of truly beautiful songs and awesome songs about complete badasses.

Figured This Would Be A Good Place To Ask
Hey all. This doesn't relate exactly to any of the comics reviewed this week, but I was wondering if anyone felt there was any Marvel comics worth getting into again. I admitedly have mostly read a lot of the older materail from the Essentials collections and really have

Not Too Bad An Interview
He's not the most exciting read around, but Justin seems like a decent enough guy. Not like a complete douche in the Mac commercials. Although, I'm now thinking it seems a mandatory rule that every young actor has to express doubt about their performance now, for fairly obvious reasons when

The Muppets And Nicktoons
This probably shows how young I am in comparison to a lot, but two big ones for me would be the Muppets and the old school Nicktoons for the 90's. Like all the ones mentioned by the staff, they work both because they're both genuinely well made and because they have more things to offer when

Not Exactly The Same Thing
However, the mention of Julia Roberts in Valentine's Day makes me think of Ocean's Twelve. There, we get possibly the lowest depths of meta as a character played by Julia Roberts has to now impersonate none other than Julia Roberts as part of a pivotal plan. If there's a way to be too meta,

I'm 20 also and for me, I feel a little older when I realize that a very significant portion of what I listen to is from before I was born. However, since it's all great stuff, I don't really care that much. I'm sure I'm also gonna feel old whenever Britney Spears, or any of the late 90's pop stars, dies.

Show, that is.
