@DavidHilbert I think your understanding of the greater Philly housing market might be flawed.

Pre-nup's don't get you out of child support payments. Plus, him having publicly humiliated her would make it sort of important to his political career that he not appear to be even more of a dick. Making sure his wife and newborn son aren't living in squalor would be one way to do that.

So the show's writers are astutely & sensitively & thankfully not drawing out the P&J situation any longer than is absolutely necessary to set up their inevitable trajectory.

Being away from home half the time on a temporary basis, while working to better your position just isn't asking Pam to sacrifice that much. She has her mother to help out as well. There are a lot folks in this country with work obligations that are far worse than that and people work it out all the time. "Gee Jim, I

What 'depth' is between the lines? There has been almost no explanation of either how Athlead is doing or even what they do. Pam's motivation is all a bunch of speculation that often comes down to "Pam hates change so she is going to destroy Jim's ambition" or "Pam is mad he made a decision without her so she's going

Two kids under school age is no reason to oppose moving two hours away. Heck, even if the kids were in elementary school they could still handle it. Opposing Jim's dream because it would make her uncomfortable is just lame. Nothing in Scranton should have that strong a hold on her.

Rosie fanboys is a thing?

They've given us the outline of real-life adult issues, but absolutely no depth. It's all been "Jim wants to move to Philly for a new job. Pam doesn't want to." It's very hard to find it emotionally involving when neither side has been fleshed out to the point where the outcome seems important.

I'm sure there are suburbs outside of Philly they could afford that would be closer than Scranton. As @avclub-6d0cbc987f0ee695ca4e8d07ecde8d7a:disqus  points out, they just haven't bothered to give any rational explanation about whether Athlead is an actual success or why Pam is so irrationally opposed to moving. And

Yeah, the hug resolved nothing and yet it felt like we were supposed to forgive them for this six month slog of pettiness and boommike operators. Pam is still coming off as selfish and controlling and doesn't seem at all receptive to the Philly move.

Which is a terrible thing to do to the two characters with only four episodes to go.

I thought that was a  stretch.

It was abandoned before the season even aired, most likely because it would have been the dumbest character switch in history. Sommers appeared in two episodes, the premiere and the one where he gave his speech which was number 6 in the season. They start filming in early August and so by the premiere 5-6 episodes

"I generally blame the writers for the problems with the show, but I
think maybe there was some sort of high level decision to dial back the more cutting workplace-satire aspects of the show as the real-world economy worsened.  Maybe that's why the show has become a comedy that takes place in an office instead of a

Frankly, I think it's just that they have never had a good idea of what to do with Andy, but since Ed Helms is the most recognizable actor on the show these days they had to give him something. Unfortunately, in S6-8 they thought that something was the horrible Andy/Erin pairing. Thank god they decided to dump

There's fearful and then there's vengeful, which is what we got last night. It no longer seems like Pam is afraid of change, but that she actively doesn't want Jim to have any success because it might affect her. If she gets her way and Athlead succeeds after Jim leaves, how does he not divorce her? Which is a

I swear I'm not a stalker. It's just those restraining orders that make it seem that way.

Karen was right: "Pam's….kind of a bitch.", only six seasons early. And Jim was apparently a flaming asshole this entire time when I thought he was supposed to be the character we hoped made it out of there. Thanks show, for ruining two of the central characters for some contrived BS.

Pam's blind rage that Jim had the gall to make a decision without telling her sure makes the character sympathetic. Especially since it's been six months since he did it. Way to ruin a character guys.

The Rich Sommer art school character was never a credible threat to the Jim/Pam relationship. While he might have been written to have a crush on Pam, the idea that she was going to be tempted ONE MONTH after getting engaged was ridiculous. Sommer might have believed that they reigned that story in after the fandom
