I think it's Ed Helms and Ellie Kempers complete lack of chemistry that makes their relationship so hard to fathom. They have been trying to force them as a couple for since the end of S5 and it's still not even remotely interesting or compelling.

Gee, what an original observation.

I thought S5 had more hits than misses, but the middle of that season really dragged and when S6 continued that trend, it was obvious the wrong folks had stayed to run it.

I can't decide if the hand-chopping or Kevin and the turtle was worse. I like the focus on Jim and Pam, but find it hard to believe he would be hiding the new job from her. Seems like a setup for wacky misunderstandings. Still it doesn't have the stench of failure that last year gave off.

Even the S7 arc of Carell leaving was a giant mess. The entire cast singing him Broadway show tunes is something I wish I could forget. I agree that less zany is the way to go which means giving Kevin some sort of "Flowers for Algernon" IQ transplant. If I have to watch anything like that turtle bit again it's going…

Except that after Fonzie jumped the shark, Happy Days continued for another five seasons.

I rewatched a few of last years episodes a few weeks back and even the ones I had remembered as the strongest of the bunch were still aimless and unfunny. There were so many misfires, starting with Robert California and ending with the Nellie takeover of Scranton, that it overwhelmed any comedic moments. Myles may…

The interesting thing is that Michael of S1 really was kind of an asshole and they toned him back because no one would have watched the show with him like that. Now, with the end in sight, it seems like they might just keep the "Andy is an asshole" story because they don't need people to stick around.

The Jim as co-manager/Sabre stuff of S6 was just a horrible disaster on almost every level. I hope they have thought through this arc a little better.

Angela has deserved at least this since the first episode. The fact that she isn't the office pariah that no would speak to without holding their nose has bothered me for years.
