Yeah, I was really hoping they'd dial back the "Kevin is functionally brain dead" stuff with Daniels back in charge, but I will give them a pass because the rest of the episode worked so much better than the disaster that was last year.

I always thought the purpose of the show was whether Jim and Pam remain stuck at Dunder Mifflin or if they managed to find something more rewarding. Either outcome is plausible at this point.

The Michael Scott Paper Company arc was the last set of decent stories they put together. Ending after S5 when Pam found out she was pregnant was the last viable chance. Everything since then has sucked balls.

Lieberstein just destroyed this show, but Daniels let it happen which makes me a little nervous about him doing the final season.

While Michael's act was getting old, the Andy arc was a meandering mess that never went anywhere. We spent the first quarter of the season repeatedly having Andy need reassurance that he was good boss and fighting off Robert California's bizarre demands. His fellow co-workers continually backed him up right up to the…
Lots of us would say the departure of Greg Daniels and Mike Schur is the perfect example of what will happen to Community next year and it doesn't bode well, Sure The Office has coasted along for the past few seasons, but I doubt anyone would say it is nearly the show it was when those two were associated with it.

Actually, since Mindy Kaling will be off doing her own series for Fox next year, I doubt we see Mohinder again.
While I used to agree that a satisfying conclusion to this show would be Jim and Pam finding other, more rewarding jobs, the fact that the country is still mired in the worst recession since the 1930's makes that seem just a little too sunny. Right now being gainfully employed at a tolerable job is nothing to sneeze…
Except for the pilot, none of the season 1 episodes took anything except the concept from the U.K. version. They hadn't found the sweet spot for Michael Scott yet, but the scripts were all original. In fact, I'd argue Diversity Day, the second episode aired, might be one of the best episodes the show has ever done.
Parks and Rec and The Office are not run by the same creative team. Greg Daniels and Mike Schur left The Office in Season 5 to run P&R and their loss has been noted as a main cause in the decline in this show. There is no forum on Earth that would say that these two shows are of equivalent quality this year.. If you…
I always just lump Season 1 into Season 2.
Both the Angela/Dwight and Darryl/Val stories were completely neglected this season and so the payoffs in the finale were totally hollow. Their inability to think out season long stories is verging on criminal at this point.
You sadistic bastard!
Given that 30 Rock has never achieved the ratings of The Office even this season, it's fairly unlikely it was drafting off of it. Increasing the ratings from 1.2 to 2.5 indicates the exact opposite in fact.
Yeah, they forced Andy to the front this year without any idea of what they wanted him to do. As someone said above, we are essentially back to where we started at the beginning of the season.
