What a wonderful filmmaker.  Truly one of the greats of our time.  If you haven't had a chance to check out his work, Artificial-Eye is actually in the process of releasing all of his films in box sets that can be found on amazon/uk.  I have the first one and the transfers are pretty great.  You need a region-free

I have never been more proud than to see my favorite film of the year (Meek's Cutoff) make Quentin Tarantino's Worst list.  It's like a rush of overwhelming confidence that I do still have good taste in movies.

Agree entirely.  Best cover and probably coolest song choice.  I didn't see this special as a kid like I did most Jim Henson productions, but I love it now.

This special is sooooo good.  Also, check out My Morning Jacket's cover version of "OurWorld."  Great stuff.

"What You Need" is underrated.  One of the most sophisticated episodes in terms of direction and pacing.  Feels more like an Alfred Hitchcock presents at times, but maintains the Twilight Zone appeal in the brilliant ending.  Love the shot of those shoes.

Diving Bell and the Butterfly will never be the same for me.  That sequence was pretty hilarious.  But the rest of the episode was weak.  Watching Avatar is far more hilarious to me than this parody.  Avatar's so bad already, and the Simpsons struggled to add any humor to it.

Such a great film.  I knew nothing of this before the Criterion release and the history of the making is so bizarre, with the Siodmaks, Wilder, and Ullmer.  Puts our modern concept of "reality" television to shame.

These are two brilliant films.  Truly universal themes.  Along with perhaps only Satyajit Ray, Ozu creates the most incredible depictions of the beauty and sorrow within the complexity of families.  These are great examples of the power of Ozu's films.

It does seem ironic that women like Barbara Stanwyck in The Lady Eve and others in Classic Hollywood rom-coms can seem so much stronger as individuals and have so much more depth and character than women in similar stories today.  Of course there are exceptions and there's much to criticize in the Lady Eve, but it's a

"Worse, nothing about The Ward’s direction has any snap."  The script for The Ward was terrible, that much we can all agree on.  But the direction, free-flowing camerawork, and old-school pacing were still so much more fun and engaging than the other modern horror films I have made myself sit through, despite the lame

I understand that some people find the rowdy songs fun, but they really don't work for me on this record.  For me, it was pretty disappointing overall.

I love They Live.  And the fight scene could have been even longer.
