Season 2 can be about the crew of a Lear Jet.

So who do we like, and who are tired of?

I see what your saying about the framing mechanism — but I was just so amused by a found footage conceit with post production (musical cues, editing, titling to label the interviewed characters etc.) I was comfortable going along with it and not worrying about it. Maybe it's not quite worthy of being called

No doubt his cell mate was an honest cop framed by his partner who was on the take.

Tom gets all of his inspiration from American History.

"Heart of Gold" is my least favorite (that's the brothel defense one), with "The Message" only a little better, and that's a flashback episode, to bring this around to the topic at hand.

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus Fair enough. I think you do a flashback episode when you need to fill in backstory. Firefly needed the backstory earlier because many of the cast of characters and their relationships were in place from the start, whereas Buffy started simple and grew.

I really like "Out of Gas", in fact I would have said it was a master class on how to do a flashback-centric episode well. I'd be interested in an example of a better one.

The deer being shot was the least surprising "surprise" ever.

I think this was the best episode so far.

Trisecting a cow, however, eluded them.

I hope Lexi's first words to Tom play out like this:

When he referred to the planet his brother died on a "cinder," I started to think maybe the Vohm weapon is meant to destroy the Earth or render it uninhabitable to deny it to the Espheni.

Sookie has the power to make our region of the galaxy uninhabitable for millions of years. Luckily, she can only use it once.

I guess it's been established that a vampire can glamour an invitation out of someone, but it seems like cheating.

They need to raise their rates though. How frequently can a person give blood? The rates should be high to reflect this.

@Alurin I thought Robots of Dawn worked all right. Robots and Empire and the two Foundation books didn't work as well, and were trying to weld together pieces that didn't fit, and also rethink the implications of Second Foundation. And the Foundation prequels were truly dire.

@samatict:disqus Aesthetically speaking, the best remake candidates are things that almost worked the first time, but weren't quite successful. From a Hollywood perspective, the best remake candidates are things that were fabulously successful, but are older than the average teenager.

I guess TV marketeers think they have AVClub readers pegged. Not as the most desirable demographic, but the ones most likely to bet on long shots for their entertainment.
