The fact that a lot of these posts are asking "how come she's so perfect?" surely shows that it didn't need an internet prequel to set it up - it's been there all along.

But not every other show has to establish a new setting, characters and, more often than not, genre with every story being told. That's the difference between Who and other episodic/semi-serialised shows. To do that satisfactorily and tell a satisfying story often needs more than 45 minutes of story.
I was hoping for a revival of "Eh bah bah gum" from him but to no avail.
@avclub-b4c405e01added5f267609ba842ba785:disqus It's the AV Club, when are we not?
No worries, it wasn't snark - some fans disliked it so much at the time that they pretend it doesn't exist, I didn't know if you were doing something similar. It's worth checking out as a curiosity if nothing else.
Tennant could shout but he did "goofy"and "sad" better than he did "threatening". It never came off as genuine. His "There's no higher authority than me!" speech in New Earth came across as silly and OTT rather than imposing. At the time I thought it was just bad writing but I can imagine Matt Smith finding a way to…
Does it have his name printed on it? I can't remember, I'm sure there was some Galifreyan writing on it that couldn't be translated and I believe it was inferred to be the Doctor's name. If so, I can see why it might be important.
They do seem to have a decent stereo set-up in the TARDIS - Amy and Rory were pumping out Supermassive Black Hole whilst playing darts at the start of the Gangers two-parter.
And the frozen exploding engine room. I thought that looked fantastic.
E.Buzz Miller - assuming you're not being sarcastic, it was in a one-off TV movie from 1996, made in an attempt to reboot the series. It didn't go down to well with the fans (or with the American co-producers, at least with regards to ratings) and so never led to the TV series it intended to but McGann has gained a…
It was the 'pills in the jelly beans' references that drove Rabin away! You all played a part in this!
The one thing I thought they did well was the music throughout the show followed the characters' regressions- as they became more like their younger selves so the music kept stepping backwards until it was The Bends and Everything Must Go being played, just like back in the day. It was subtle and clever.
Completely agree, especially about This Life - one of my favourite ever endings. The reunion special tried to shit all over it but luckily it missed the mark so much that it's easy to ignore that it ever happened.
I find that any Thomas narrator needs that bit of edge though, to really sell the arc where Diesel comes to the station and fucks with everyone's minds until they drive Duck out of town.
Not to dismiss Mallory Archer at all but, as fantastic as the combination of voice/character is there, it's still missing Walter's incredible physical acting. Mallory could never beat her chicken dance, her winks, her reactions of Gene and the countless tiny looks and movements that Lucille has.
"He's more machine now than man"
"HE'S A ROBOT!"
As a Briton born in 1982 I give Ringo Starr a lifetime pass thanks to his narrating of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Currently rewatching 24 with my fiancee - first time for her. Close to the end of Season 5 but luckily the Redemption DVD has a 'Season 6 in sx minutes' featurette. So that will save us 1050 minutes and stop her from asking "Where's Curtis?" in Season 7.
Even though I already summed it up for her with "Jack's Dad turns…
