It moved up to third-highest worldwide too - behind both of the same films. And there it will stay. Still a hell of an impressive achievement.

Same here. I think it's a great scene. No way was that flame-throwing cumshot edited to the music not a deliberate piece of humour.

I really liked it but I agree so much with the Weyland point. Was it really just so they could have Pearce do a viral video as his real-age version of Weyland? Because making an advert is a shitty reason to base your casting of a major film on.

Matchstick Men is a great little film. Everyone involved in it is on top form but it seemed to get ignored.

Yes. My girlfriend watched Aliens for the first time last week and, even though we watched the shorter version, I felt obliged to fill her in  on the details of what happened to her daughter. It adds so much.

The first viewing I ever had of Apocalypse Now was the Redux version when it got a cinema release in 2001. It was a huge mistake, I came away wondering what the fuss was all about. It's such a messy film. I've since come to appreciate the original.

I love it but, as well as the line plays used as a moment of grief, I much prefer the "For Frodo" line when they don't think he's dead.

For me Fellowship is enriched by its extended edition, Two Towers is bettered and Return of the King is a little hampered. At least that's what I thought when I first saw it - the deleted scenes stood out much more whereas they seemed more organically inserted in Fellowship and Towers. Mind you, I had seen that movie

I'm going to see the toruing version in October and am looking forward to the Lineham adaptation but sadly Capaldi is not in the cast. Though we do get Barry from Eastenders.
