So when I, Robot was due out I remember the consensus was that Proyas was a genuinely good-to-great sci-fi director whose vision had been unfairly tainted by the studio.

It'll in especially bad taste if the Mother is dead and the kids, having finally plucked up the courage to ask about their beloved but deceased mum, are given a long diatribe on which girls their dad fucked before he got round to her.
Mace Windu tells you to go fuck yourself. Or maybe "This party's over" in a badass voice, because it was a PG Samuel L. Jackson film.
30 Rock is ending anyway so this won't affect it's fate in anyway, even if the ratings might slip (but then it was up against Big bang at the start of this season anyway so it'll probably remain steady against that).
Causality loop! That's the phrase I was looking for!
There is a very fine art to writing a season finale as a possible series finale. Fringe's season 4 finale seemed like it was trying far too hard - the montage of "good news!" felt artificial and the tagged-on cliffhanger felt just that - tagged on. They planned for both but neither came across as organic.
As much as I appreciated the jokes as I'd seen the film/show in question I always thought it was shitty of Community to spoil Catfish (last season) and 30 Rock to spoil 'you all know which bit in book/season 1' of Game of Thrones a couple of episodes ago.
I pretend that it ends at Season 5. Enough of a glimpse of Jacob and Man in Black to show a higher power controlling all of this without blowing it by showing how dumb, stupid, inconsistent and unknowing they are and the end notion of the survivors causing 'the incident' and everything looping round in a big circle.…
It floored me when I first saw it and, five years on, it floors me even more. I re-watched the series last year and the ending hit me even harder than it did the first time (and I loved it the first time). To me it's the perfect ending for the show, something I never would have predicted but is incredibly satisfying.
I agree - I've always had a suspiscion that the original concept was that they were in purgatory but it was guessed so early and widely that the writers changec course. Can't really have a mystery show if the central mystery has been blown way before the reveal. Season 6 seems their way of bringing back that concept…
"Shut it down".
I have no doubt that Breaking Bad's finale will be incredible. The only show I can think of that could come close to matching The Sopranos for a satisfying, exciting and emotional yet completely gutwrenching and orignal send-off.
@avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus - I know this is going to sound snarky and uppity but it's not meant to be - I was watching it for the film. For the story and the characters. I can see the appeal in watching it the way you did but I wanted to watch Danny and Rusty and Linus smoothly pull off these…
Mob Doctor will win points with me if Bada Bing bartender Georgie becomes a recurring character. Phone in face! Ice bucket over the skull! Chain in the eye! He brings a new injury every week!
Was the thing 12 was trying to accomplish the act of fitting thirteen established characters into a completed spec script that had nothing to do with the franchise they slathered all over it?
The aftermath is what kills me. Seeing him try and patch himself up and crawl away with that sad, sad music playing. Gutwrenching.
The Stark bit from Incredible Hulk got retconned in a short film on one of the blu-rays (Thor's I think) - the World Security Council wanted S.H.I.E.L.D to use Abomination in The Avengers and ordered them to convince Ross to release him to S.H.I.E.L.D. So Coulson sends Stark with the intention of him winding Ross up…
Fair warning but the love story gets even more attention in the sequel as we see Hellboy battling relationship problems. So that one might not win you over either.
