I lost it at the three ring binder. This entry is gold, man.

Right smack in the middle of finals
The guys in the dorm would yank out the board and we'd play a massive Risk tournament. Well, not exactly a tournament, but a lot of Risk, anyway. Beat studying.

Hey don't be dissin' on Vixxen!

I hope they don't do that "drop the stream in a spittoon" bit just to show how far Miramax has fallen. I'm sick of that.

Well, Tolkien was Catholic, and he always said LotR was a very catholic work (despite his mining of all manner of nordic and germanic folkways for stuff), so I guess you could say, yes, it has been done. Pope Ben says hey.

I suspect the Disney lawyers are tougher.

Bah. Don't listen to these jokers. The movie is lighter than a helium marshmallow, but for a movie about thunder gods and what not, it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's light summer entertainment.

A reviewer at the time noted that the opening, with the old warhorses jumping in to save the day, was easily the best part of the movie.

Actually, my understanding is "The Naked Now" was to show the characters with their filters off, so you would understand them better. No, really. So Riker is the Kirk figure, concentrating on the ship, Picard soldiers on despite his attraction to Bev, Wesley is just enjoying showing off, and messing with the tech,

Damn it, I never got to hear Riker's eulogy for me either.

Picard's brother and nephew are just fine
So I don't know what you are talking about here…But seriously, you are so right about the utter pointlessness of that scene. I mean, WTF? And when Picard goes into the Nexus, where is his brother? You say Rene was there and if you say so okay, but all I saw were Jean-Luc's

Sometimes I read these comments just for Frakes. Awesome, sir. Well played.

Saw them in concert
I think I've posted this before…I saw Huey and the News in college. Sports was still huge, and I think he had the Tower of Power backing him on stage. But even cooler than that, he had Duane Eddy opening up for him. Now, I grant you he was enjoying some love because of that thing with Art of Noise,

I wonder
if they'll do the "topless babe in the window" bit from the original. Best part of the movie to my teenage self.

Lincoln's "assassination"
Are we really supposed to believe that a semi-failed actor could get right up the presidential box and shoot Abe from point blank range? Has anyone noticed the amazing, simply amazing drop in the number of deaths from anemia that took place in the years immediately following the USCW?

Sugar was used for a bicep routine in my gym.

Well, Preparation, I think you could easily argue that much of 2112 was pretty metallic. "The Temples of Syrinx" would fit the bill nicely.

Def Leppard was metal?
It was a different time, but I find it hard to believe these guys were ever considered a metal band. Especially when the likes of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden were around.

I liked Pyromania's songs a lot more than this set list. In fact, aside from "Sugar", I pretty much skip over all of them.

@Sconn, well, there's the money thing. Never hurts. Also (and I think more importantly) rock stars and models have a tendency to hang out in the same general areas. They meet, they talk, they get together. Almost like normal people.
