I'm not Philip Sandifer, I don't view New Who on a crazy deep level (most of the time). If it amuses/thrills me, I enjoy it. I'm a sucker for horror and Alien, and any episode where they do the lighting well gives me a huge grin.

Evil Jeff hated it, but I thought it was great fun. Even if the kids cannot act at all. I do enjoy whenever Doctor Who mixes with chess, it brings forward happy memories, and the Cybermen were legitimately well used. Nice to see Clara getting some characterisation, she's still lacking a lot of definition.
