I was way late to the Albums of the Year post so i didn't even bother to venture into the comments, so i'm gonna drop my "Best of 2013: Hip-Hop Edition" here. Feel free to do the same! I went to 15 just because i felt too guilty about leaving any of these guys out. Here we go.

Tina Fey wrecked the whole damn thing! I'd be first in line for a Tina Fey tape over Gambino production.

I liked this a little bit more than the Andrea, but basically i'm of the same mind. Camp was good and interesting, but Royalty was weak, and to make it worse he was showed up by every single guest rapper he brought in, and as the review noted there were plenty of them. For about 60% of this album Gambino actually

"Ron Jeremy" and "not seeing it" aren't usually 2 phrases one finds together.

Not sure how many will see this, but anyone who enjoyed RD should check out Skyzoo's "An Ode To Reasonable Doubt". Sky is one of the best rappers in the game period, and he teamed up with Antman Wonder to recreate 9 tracks off RD with new raps. The beats are redone with Live instrumentation and five it an interesting

Kingdom Come is pretty meh, but "Lost Ones" is an undeniably great record. Can stand with the best of Jay's catalog

Blueprint is also essential, imo. And American Gangster is undereated. The rest are mediocre to ok.
But yeah Doe or Die is as strong as any album ever made. I actually prefer it to Illmatic *ducks shots*. AZ is releasing Doe or Die II in 2014, and I am unreasonably excited.

By the way, i was looking through the rest of the post, 7 different tracks were mentioned by people as being the best or among the best of the year. 70% of the fucking album is song of the year material, but its not one of the 23 best albums of the year? ok.

Black and Brown is so, so, so good.

FUCK & YES on that Harry Fraud track. Best beat on a mixtape with plenty of great beats to choose from.

Man, no love for "A Christmas Fucking Miracle" from anybody? I mean my god, Killer Mikes verse on that is incredible.

Possibly, but i seem to remember him in a summer league putting up pretty impressive numbers, but not making a team because he couldn't (or didn't care to) learn the plays and defensive rotations. He may never have been a superstar, but even being bigger and older he wasn't lacking in talent.

Unfortunately very true. The reason the Felton story sprung to mind is Lenny saying he didn't REALLY want the superstardom, it was just expected of him so he went along with it. Felton expressed similar sentiments. Makes me wonder how different their lives would have turned if they weren't burdened with the

Yeah that's a pretty out there one.

This story reminds me of James Felton, another ultra talented high school player who didn't make it. Incredibly sad story.

Im 6'5", and I'd put myself at about a 6-6.5. The height does help a good 2 points though.

Oh yeah, I love me some Mecca and the Soul Brother. Now, which duo do you choose, Pete and CL, or G Rap and Polo. I think I might have to side Kool G.

Yeah, the older get, the more i realize that. Which makes me dread how much i'm going to hate my 3-year old sister in about 10 years.

Haha, thanks for the recommendations, and i appreciate your exuberance, but i am familiar with all mentioned. When the AV Club gets to their quota of 1 Rap review per quarter, i try to comment about everything ELSE that gets released that was missed. Thats part of the reason i have a hard time getting back to classics
