I definitely agree that the beats overall were superior to God Forgives I Don't. In my opinion there were just too many beats that sounded out of that mold, so the album didn't quite have the cohesive feel i would have liked or the personal, original touch i was looking for. Not all of it, but more often than not this

Wale's recent output suggests, to me at least, that he will not rap at the level he used to. And also the fact that his whole style switched as soon as he signed to MMG bugs the shit out of me. I loved Wale on 100 miles and running and The Mixtape about Nothing and Back to the Feature, but while the flow is still

Very true. If he gets with a strong creative force to properly guide his project, he can absolutely crank out a classic album. He needs to find the DJ Polo to his Kool G Rap or the Pete Rock to his CL Smooth.

I don't know, Sergio Romo freezing Miguel Cabrera had heart, but football in the groin had a football in the groin.

I agree with the grade. What disappointed me about the album was how so much of it sounded like typical MMG/Rick Ross sounding beats. This didn't seem like an artists carefully crafted debut, it felt like MMG presents Meek Mill where Rick Ross gave him a tape with 14 beats and said "here rap over these".

I have no idea if this is accurate, but i'm just going to blame Jay Elec for it not coming out. He's done so little the last few years, if theres nothing released its probably his fault.

I would watch the hell out of that, as long as the other 20% is the clip of Bo Jackson throwing out Harold Reynolds at home from the warning track ON THE FLY on a loop. Probably the most logic-defying baseball play ive ever seen.

Yeah this…. doesn't sound very good. This subpar run has me very worried that they might screw up the Bo Jackson one. God as my witness if they don't do the legend that is Bo Jackson justice, i will rage all over the AVclub!

Trying to decide between this & the Killer Mike record for album of the year is going to be painful. Just thinking about it makes me think like i'm picking my favorite child.

Kendrick just let another unreleased track go called "The Jig Is Up (Dump'n)" Produced by J Cole and Canei Finch. Different sound than GKMC, but pretty good nonetheless.

Yeah i'm not terribly fond of that Mary J track either. And thinks for the link about C&C, didn't know it was a sample issue, although that definitely makes the most sense. Its such a good song and would make a perfect intro.
