Very surprised & happy to see Masta Ace pop up here.  I mentioned this in the rick ross review last week, but i really enjoyed Ma Doom.  Granted, i wasn't familiar with the special herbs' series, so the beats were new to me, but its Ace's storytelling that really makes the album.

I'm a mad dog who sits in the dark
I'm fixin' to bark watchin' 106 And Park
What a mess, I guess I'm sorta stressed
Turn on the radio and I get more depressed
No wonder I'm kinda bitter
Strick told me I should quit player hating, but fuck that I'm not a quitter

Agree with your rant, except for the Blu part.  I don't know what it is, but i haven't enjoyed a single thing from him since below the heavens.

I'd heard that the beats for MA Doom were old, but i've never been a huge doom fan, so i wasn't really familiar with any of them. I think this album is definitely a case of the lyrics and concept making the whole better than the sum of its parts.

Considering the one rap album review every other week is the only place rap gets discussed, here's my thoughts on what i've gotten into the last two weeks.

I love the end when they briefly bring up lj's four point play. Seeing how giddy the NY people suddenly got and how butthurt Indiana got was incredibly entertaining to me. Wished they could have turned that into a mini sequel.

Best from the first batch?

His verse on Mercy actually was pretty damn good, you're right. So bad he's funny might be a BIT harsh, because he does have some legitimately good verses from time to time. He kind of inhabits the Juelz Santana zone for me, where you can call him a great lyricist by any objective measure, but he still manages to be

I enjoy 2 chainz in a "so bad its funny" way. He really isn't very good, but he can sport a decent flow on occasion, and is good for a unintentional laugh or two on every verse. I'm not a big fan by any stretch, but i don't dread whenever i see his name on a track.

Not too fond of the Odd Future guys, but the rest of that list is on point.  That Joey Bada$$ creeped up on me out of no where.  Downloaded it on a whim and was incredibly impressed.  Would also like to include Emilio Rojas, Jon Connor, KRIT, Pill, & Don Trip, as some more youngsters to keep an eye on.
