 I'm glad the solution is what it is because I believe in the TNG worldview but it is a little quick for today but at the time I remember thinking it couldn't end any other way.

I agree; the plot developments were done better in this film than they were in the past. But that due to the fact that they've changed the tone and possibilities of the series (for Craig at least).

I can't see how anyone, at least anyone familiar with the series, was surprised in the least about the reveals (MoneyPenny, M). I thought the view nodded too much to the past (not way to much like in DIe Another Day) and like Keith I'm not sure it sets the series up to accomplish anything new.
