The last TV I had without a remote was a little 13" black and white number that I took with me to college.  Can you still buy TVs without remotes?  It's like trying to find someplace to sell you a VCR.

We had one of those.  My poor mother was always tripping over the cord, which wasn't really long enough to stretch from the TV to the couch while still lying flat on the floor.  So it was basically a tripwire in the middle of the living room.

That was my take as well.  If he snuck out the back of the building that night, and they didn't pull the body out until the AM, that left him plenty of time to sneak back over to the hospital, change the dental records, and go hide out somewhere until the funeral.

I liked it as well, though I've spent far too much time in the past watching shows like Are You Being Served?.

Is he still beloved?  We're a decade removed from his last decent movie role as a leading man, and probably 15+ years removed from his last decent comedy role as the lead.
