I absolutely agree. That was just a joke-with-a-kernel-of-truth more than anything. And it's partly WHY people like Borgnine irritate me - they just make everyone else in their peer group look bad and help perpetuate the stereotypes.

Can't remember where else I've seen it, cuz I sure never saw the NYE special, but I've always hated that drawing style for the Peanuts gang. Sure, in the NYE-party context, it seems like they're medicated, but normally it just makes them look fucking smug. (Which makes sense for Lucy, but not so much the others.)

My experience wasn't quite that bad, but I know exactly what you mean. Thankfully nobody laughed at any really extreme stuff like the dogs, but it was still impossible to miss. I remember at several points thinking, "umm where's the joke, people? How is this funny?"
