My band was named "Mitchell" after the eponymous MST3K episode.  We never played in public or even owned our own instruments but practice was fun.

No apology necessary.  I earned it fair and square.

The drummer was of course not wearing a shirt.

A couple friends in HS started a band called #1 Dad.  They weren't very good, but I do remember one basement show where 3/4 of the band wore homemade replica #1 Dad t-shirts.  That was fun.

I tend to skip the live ones too.  The format just doesn't always work as well, and I also really don't enjoy Jim Earl or Eddie Pepitone.

Me too, and Ryan's my favorite vocalist in the group.  I heard a full stream of the High Dive record on Punknews as well.

Stiff Little Fingers were the first punk band I got into that wasn't from my time.

Yeah, and then it offered some slight resolution with a CGI alien fight during the credits.

Kingsley is awesome in this movie and he wears a kick-ass hat throughout.  Fun fact: it was his own hat that he brought along with him to NYC.

I'm from the Madison area so I'm quite used to the dead tree edition.  I remember reading it when I was 15 and I still pick up copies around town from time to time.  I also met Steven Thompson a few times, including once at a battle of the bands at the New Loft Teen Center when my friends' band was competing.  I

I wouldn't say Peoria meets my definition of a nice city but I've never done much there outside of visiting with my relatives in the area.  I liked going to Lou's Drive-In and watching barges go by at the Steak 'n Shake in East Peoria.  And yes, all my relatives are Cardinal fans though fortunately not as insufferable

Das Boot: The five hour miniseries cut does the best job with the subtitles and the character development but the 1997 Directors Cut version is pretty close.  The cuts aren't exactly seamless but the narrative doesn't suffer from it.  However I did have a lot of prior knowledge of the novel coming in so that

I saw Attack the Block and Terri on Friday and enjoyed both very much.  Then on Saturday I gave up on life and watched Fast Five and Green Lantern.  The latter wasn't as bad as I expected but Sweet Zombie Jesus was Fast Five fucking terrible.  I don't know why I thought it would be worth watching since I hadn't really

100% agree.  And all the shitty political cartoons and FB profiles will just remind me why I liked him so much in the first place.

I love this entire album.  "Hang Myself From The Tree" is one of the darkest fucking songs to ever have a jaunty tuba accompaniment.

I always dig out my copy of Oi To The World! Christmas with the Vandals around this time every year.

Yeah I don't really like any type of Christmas music but that Reigning Sound song is pretty decent.

Thanks for clarifying - I was operating under the impression cachaca was sugarcane rum.  That was the stuff I had and it was tasty but it did a number on me.

Yeah, both teams are kind of slumping now.  Still I like watching Joe Pavelski. I've got a lot of good memories of his time with the Badgers.
