Late to post, but this is a theory I had watching the pilot that i've NEVER seen anyone talk about before so I wonder how crackpot it is.

My main disappointment with Ana Lucia is that the show didn't seem to totally understand what to do with her after she joined the main castaways. Maybe that was part of the point, to show her as isolated and virtually without friends, but I wish she didn't vanish to the background for most of the second half of season…

Just curious, is there a place where I can watch all the webisodes? I would've assumed they'd be part of the DVD box sets, but I just checked, and none of my DVDs have any webisodes on them. (unless they're on the season 4 boxset, the one I don't own)

Yeah the actor who played Eko HATED Hawaii and was apparently always getting into arguments with the directors/people on set about the dialogue. I guess he
and the show writers had very different ideas of how they wanted his character to be on the show.

I could be wrong, but pretty sure that episode has a commentary where they talk about how it was supposed to be a Shannon episode, but the network wasn't a fan of the idea of doing a Shannon episode, so they had to change the flashbacks and make up Sayid's flashback that week incredibly last minute.
