Also, in the book Mars was partially settled by Texans, so they all speak like they grew up in Dallas.

Haha! Both the Koreans I know who enlisted did it to get US citizenship and to not have to serve in the hellhole that is the ROK army.

The Witcher 3 is waaaaay better than MGSV. I like the actual gameplay of MGSV, but can't put up with Kojima's bullshit writing for longer than an hour.

That's "I Saw the Devil". A bit too over the top for my tastes. I'd recommend starting with "Memories of Murder". It's surprisingly hilarious for a movie based on real life serial murders.

Its amazing to me the amount of people who enlist from Korea. I personally know at least five people who did that, and three of them are non-Koreans!

How many Korean movies have you seen that don't have a completely absurd third act?

Where were you posted?

South Korea is actually a pretty kickass place to live. The cops there are pretty chill, in fact when I was stationed in Korea we were always told that just because the KNP were pushovers that didn't give us the right to beat them up. Not that me or anyone from my unit beat up a Korean cop, it just wasn't that

Korean movies in general tend to have more plot and characters than they can handle, but this movie sounds pretty interesting. I'll have to check it out.

May he ride eternal, shiny and chrome.

"Dreams" by Beck is by far my favorite song of the year. It's so fun and upbeat and is probably the perfect driving song.

At least you didn't get gassed. I think I'd rather get gassed than fight in MOPP gear.

Shoulda done that overseas mission dude!

Most of the Mormons I met were from Texas or Arizona. They usually thought Utah Mormons to be quite strange.

Good point.

So they are basically vacations. I have one Mormon friend who spent his entire mission in South Korea learning the language and picking up girls.

I'd say that about any group of people.

I love Bill Murray as much as the next guy, but could we get a Murray from FotC Christmas special?

I always wondered how successful their overseas missions were. Mormonism is such an America-centric brand of Christianity that it has to be a hard sell to foreigners. Beyond the obviously ridiculous bullshit I mean.

Their religion may be fucking batty, but almost every Mormon I have ever met has been a genuinely nice person. Growing up in Jersey one doesn't come into contact with them very much, but they are quite prevalent in the military.
