TLC presents The Book of Blow Job
A classic updated for a new new testament: One man's trials with pleasure instead of suffering. Hypocrisy in the guise of redemption ensues

You had me at
Cate Blanchett… molasses-drippin

Yeah, solid interview. guy sounds like a character who would hate being called a character. I particularly liked his comments on creativity and reserving the right to fail. Good stuff

Dorothy Gish anecdote
Love that story.

Judy Judy Judy
Would have been nice to include Only Angels Have Wings in the Hayworth box set. She wasn't the lead though. Gilda's a real pleasure

I think it was his delivery in the candy bar commercial that got me to try the product: "I bet my money on Baby Ruth." Even delivered in his understated way, the line reading had more flavor than the candy.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Trust erosion
This is unfortunate news. It makes me question the time I've spent on this site, and the consideration I've given the writers' opinions. How empty can a practice get: considering a reviewer's opinion of a book that doesn't exist? That review / blurb was very thin, and wasn't going to occupy much of my

Excellent circus movie

Add a healthy splash of sake to some Hendricks, garnish with cucumber slice. enjoy. kiss stranger

Lisbon
That disc is fantastic. Very rarely these days do I get some new music and end up playing it constantly for weeks on end. Lisbon reminded me of those musical love affairs I used to have when I was younger. Thanks avc for the review and bringing the walkmen to my attention. great to see the little room being put

Northern Exposure
There was a pitch to cover it recently. What happened, not enough interest? Bummer man. That show does what it does really well.

I'd follow this, and would welcome the opportunity to watch the series again. From the rerun or two I've seen over the years I think the show holds up well. It can still make you feel like part of some little community.

Rumsfeld
Of that cast of characters, I'm most looking forward to Rumsfeld's memoir and book tour

Strange Brew
I thought it was comedy until I discovered the Red Green Show. Then I realized it's like a Ken Burns treatment of Canada

I liked the Malick version enough to read the book and watch the prior film version (from the mid 60's, I believe), in that order. I liked them in that order too, Malick, book, then the film original. The original looks quite cheap, like actors put on some fatigues and went for a hike in the hills of Santa Monica.

the cheaper the avatar, the gaudier the patter
