This is my first Greene, I found a used paperback copy for $2 and I couldn't resist. I'm only about 20 pages in and I'm not sure what to think. I think I was expecting Ian Fleming.

Nin is one of my heroes. Little Birds is a collection of good to great short stories that I've neglected for too long. And I kept hearing so much about how Plath is a feminist touchstone, but so far I'm unimpressed.

Just catching up on my long neglected authors list…

Two things…

it happens to the best of us…it happens to the rest of us…but damn it stings a little when our heroes fall…

MeTV is free OTA…why would you pay for it?

an excellent series on the art of punk rock covered this pretty well…

I think his point is endless repetition kills magic. Controlled repetition is a hallmark of artistry.

The Bell Jar…
Little Birds…
I, the Jury…
Our Man in Havana…

Flesh for Fantasy…

Mediocre is the proper word…

I saw it…and it makes sense to me…

did everyone miss the fact that Mike was drawing down on Jesse before he got shot?

Morphine, Mark Sandman…

there's a bunch of stuff here I haven't heard yet…in that spirit, here's some of what I'm enjoying from this year that hasn't already been listed: (in no particular order…)

This is the point where Lebowski fans & I will eternally disagree…Raising Arizona is funnier, more quotable, and the very definition of "Coenesque"…Bridges is great in Lebowski, but I think it's a movie that can't decide how it wants to end…or doesn't want to end at all…

that list is giving me a stroke…

Swap Lebowski for Arizona, and Grit for Fink…or we can debate it over a beer…swap Rocket for Royal and I won't make fun of your white wine…

If you like gritty crime fiction then the Pusher Trilogy is for you…especially Pusher II: With Blood on My Hands…or you could just watch French Connection II and pretend they never made another movie about cops and criminals since then…

Ready, set, streaming Into The Jet Age Of Tomorrow 47), Led Zeppelin for the fuck out!
