Nice to see 'Reilly' getting a mention, it's a superb series.

Carpet as rich in organic life as the peatfields of Royal Meath, and twice as green.

The BBC produced a mini-series based on the Gormenghast books back in 1999.  Despite being sumptuously designed and brilliantly cast, it bore little relation to Peake's original vision.  His dusty despair was replaced with a more positive tone.  But I think it was a noble attempt to realize a virtually-unrealizable

The graphic novel is a goddamn work of art.  There are over thirty pages of annotations, it is just so rich and detailed.  It's not just about Jack, it takes in so much British occult and criminal lore as well.

The idea itself would be worth a Vertigo one-off.

I liked his work on PunisherMAX, even if it's really just an x-treme re-heating of Frank's classic stories (esp. Bullseye and Kingpin).  He gave the old boy a decent sendoff.

Damn that was bleak.  This show is so honest in keeping that strong vein of seediness which runs through life at the track.

Certainly I've never seen a movie that depicted the effects of acid so effectively.

I would demur on the comment that the LOTR films are "true to the books", particularly in the way they end (the absence of the Scouring in the movie changes the whole tone, I feel).  But to do so is to kick over a hornet's nest of subjective nerd analysis and we don't want that.

Personally I prefer Private House Of The SS.  Wait till you see the Gay Nazi Pope.

They just don't make Naziploitation like they used to.

According to all the 70's Italian movies I saw, which made me something of an expert on the subject, you could not swing a swastika in Nazi Germany without hitting a brothel of some sort.

For me there was something really sad about the way they contrasted
Rosie's success with Ronnie and the bums down on the beach.  It think it
showed how double-edged a professional athlete's life can get.  The actor does bring something very personal to this role.

The cameraman is certainly fixated on that foine Tipperary posterior, and I don't blame him one bit.

Amy Adams was pretty damn fine.

No "Heil Honey, I'm Home?"  I guess it is justifiably - and thankfully - obscure.

It's one of her occupational requirements, I think. Like Wonder Woman.

Dream looks like it would have been a lot of fun.  Or at least the girls seemed to be enjoying themselves.  I wonder what P. Diddy was up to.

Yeah nice try, narc.

Thanks for ruining it for me man.
