Yeah, but it didn't matter, because it was too late to court the latino vote. As for the crazy person vote, clearly she might have had Paula on her side, but maybe that would be too much crazy for one show.

It was a HAIRY bear
It was a SCARY bear

This is why you shouldn't use the "repeat" function on any music player.

Duly noted. carry on.

Simon defended it fairly well, I think…I think it's probably because without the wild cards, the judges are completely powerless once they choose the final 24/36/whatever. They wanted to prove themselves relevant, and as someone else mentioned, it made for a more interesting results show, AND they get to have another

And the judges are considering the contest from the standpoint of which one would make a successful recording artist…It's a little more cynical, but it is after all the purpose of the competition.

Last night, I only listened, didn't watch…I was reading a book. If you don't know the blind-guy story, Scott is not a great singer. He must be better in person. Of course, there is the issue of people who play an instrument and sing being lost without the instrument in front of them, but still…He didn't sing much

I still like the Simpsons, too. It helps that I haven't seen every episode, and can't quote chapter and verse.
2 things I liked: the montage of Homer getting hurt was actually pretty funny. Also, that the garbage barge stopped at the pier (?) at Springfield Elementary.
I actually thought American Dad was the

Oh yeah, forgot the grandma vote.

I've also assumed the teenage girl vote plays a big part in the process. So the winner either has to be an adorable guy or…a teenage girl?

Since you only have 3 minutes, I think the barefoot thing would be useful shorthand for a personality trait—-not a sure thing, but a sleeve tattoo serves the same purpose, but a different message…same thing with a bald head and goatee…

This story actually made the national news in Canada. It was the pointless story at the end of the broadcast, but still. It was a slow news day here, since Obama's already come and gone.

45 seconds…?
so are they cutting off the acceptance speeches?

I hate to confess it, but I think Burns's "Civil War" was what put me on the path to study history in University. It is a little overwrought, but it certainly wasn't any inspiring teacher I had. Of course, in retrospect, I'd probably be doing better if someone had whispered "Plastics" to me.

Maybe next week they'll announce 4 possible "wild cards" from this week who will make it to the "wild card" week. Then they won't have to keep an extra 9 contestants waiting and hoping…But I think they're intentionally being vague to keep interest up…right now anyone could still be in it theoretically.

@ J. Rabbit: I dunno, I thought the crazy was an act. She was pretty shamelessly self-promoting on the stage. Even Simon called her out on it. She is a Marketing student, after all.

Also, I'd forgotten they don't start with a full band/horns/strings thing for these weeks. I thought all the songs sounded small until I rememebered—-Fox wouldn't spring for a full band for 4 extra weeks.

They haven't explained the wild cards yet. They're letting it out in dribs and drabs. My guess is that during "wild card week," the judges will pick 10 or so people who didn't make it but who they like, and they'll sing for their lives…or for another round of voting.

Casey's version of "Every Little Thing (He) Does is Magic" sounded a lot like a version that Shawn Colvin does on her cover album. It was pretty dull.

Perhaps their ulterior motive is reducing the amount of money they give away by increasing the pressue. Times are tight, you know.
