I got it to load on Chrome, but it's still glitchy and prone to crashing. I uploaded an obscure Beach Boys song, and it worked beautifully…. for a few minutes… then it crashed.

I actually bought Truffaut/Hitchcock years ago, and had only flipped through it for quotes on specific movies. I never read it cover to cover until recently. It's astounding. One of the best books on films I've ever read.

Just read Hitchcock's Notebooks and Truffaut/Hitchock… but not because of either of the biopics. The first is only mildly interesting, but the second is essential.

I think the book was heavily influenced by the likes and dislikes of its authors. Tom Shales is obviously a very opinionated guy, and the book was in no way neutral or journalistic. Its stated goal was to be a "tribute" to SNL, so there's a bit of a slant to what's included and what's excluded.
