I think this is true. I should have clarified something in my original comment. I meant that the late 1980s cast of SNL was a hotbed of future conservatives. Yes, Miller's turn to the right occurred well after his stint on the show. Jackson and Lovitz seemed apolitical at the time they were on SNL.

In retrospect, the late-1980s cast of SNL was a hotbed of conservativism: Victoria Jackson, Dennis Miller, and even Jon Lovitz. I don't know about the politics of the other people on the show, but I know Nora Dunn was on the complete opposite end of the ideological spectrum. I'm guessing those were tense years. In Live

Regarding David Lynch: I had no idea about his comments on 9/11, Vadim, and frankly I was happier not knowing. One thing I've always liked about Lynch as a celebrity is how "square" and sweetly stodgy he seems sometimes in interviews. Honestly, he reminds me of my late grandmother. I was thinking about the big/little debate as it relates to Mike Judge's shows. King of the Hill mostly stayed little, right to the end, though they could go big if they needed to. Beavis & Butthead mostly stayed little, too, with some stories so slight they BARELY counted as incidents. (See "Time Sucks.") Yet B&B

Good point. But they've gotta pick SOMETHING. Or else just not have him on the show much.

Quick take: I, too, was a little disappointed to see the show go in such a "big," implausible direction when its strengths lie in small, down-to-earth episodes and stories. And yet I laughed all through this. The lines were funny. The jokes were good. The performances were sharp as usual. And yet it was such a relief

I've been watching too many Feminist Frequency videos on YT, I guess.

From what I've seen, Jay is a mimic more than an actor or a comedian. There are lots of YouTube videos of him just doing celebrity impressions. But so what? There are tons of those on YT by amateurs. He does stand-up, too, but it seems to be heavily reliant on funny voices rather than funny ideas. I guess my
