Oh I agree Louie doesn't always work, and my interest in it has waned somewhat, but C.K. still manages to be insightful in a startling way on a fairly consistent basis. Master of None is a smart show, but it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

I think he charmed her with the tractor bit and then his giddy disbelief at everything that was happening. Between that and her eagerness to get at least mildly fucked up to seal the deal, I'd say he was meeting her requirements pretty handily. It really was not a matter of a hot woman being able to "get" someone

There's a Harris-ism in a later episode that made me simultaneously sad and happy, which is a thing the late Harris Wittels frequently does. I'll take it over just being sad.

Yeah, I think the people making this show are smart and thoughtful but just a bit too young to be operating on a Louie level; still, I really did mostly enjoy it, despite it getting way too cute for me toward the end. But I'm an old crank.

The 8 Mile thing was a little too Reservoir Dogs; I think you should give Lil Funyuns the win.

That's why Brian gets away with the "?" texts.

I'm relieved Will Graham's wife turned out to be as nuts as he is.

That performance of War is sooooo good. It's on YouTube, I highly recommend it.

Donald Trump has no chance of winning the presidency.

He will always be Seth Wompler to me.

All my book-learnin' apparently taught me the wrong definition of "science." What a waste of money. Thanks for setting me straight!

Well yeah, I'm clearly out of the loop because I didn't know the cool kids apparently hate the Chili Peppers now. I can't keep up with the politics of cool, I never could. And "Give It Away" is still perfect to me.

His critique didn't bother me as much as it bothered you. I don't know, I found it sort of charming? Like, he has this idea that a dude aggressively singing something that sounds kind of like "suck my dick!" might be upsetting to women and is also upsetting to him and he's really turned off by it. Which is kind of

Weirdly it freaked me out too, even though my brother listened to RHCP when we were teenagers and he now has a kid in college. I guess every once in a while someone frames the "hey, YOU'RE FUCKING OLD, yes I'm talking to YOU" idea in a new and upsetting way.

I don't feel like he said they weren't? I agree that they were/are solid, and even though I was never a huge fan I have a lot of affection for them. He just hates this song, which I can't disagree with, even though I don't hate it for quite the same reasons he does. I just mostly think it's tuneless and clumsy and

This was an unusually enjoyable Hatesong.

This movie sounds handsome.

Just watched the Trump bit. You're right that his delivery hasn't quite coalesced, but I'd say that that was otherwise a pretty classic Daily Show segment coming from a different but no less funny/soul-crushing perspective. Which I'm guessing is pretty much exactly what Comedy Central was hoping for.

I just watched this and by god it was giddy-making. He looks like he's about to have a heart attack from moment one and she's all cherries in the snow. What a delight.

The entire performance is sublime. Top 25 album for me.
