DFW got about half an inch of sleet, so the entire area is shut down (yes, you Yankee types, feel free to laugh it up. We'll remember it when you're complaining how hot 95 degrees is this summer). Work is closed, so I'm at home watching an Oscar special I had DVRed last week.

Or Far From Heaven

Amazingly enough, Robinson was never nominated for an Oscar. He finally got an honorary one—two months after his death.

Those soup commercials he made in the 80s?

I was about to say he lost to Clark Gable for Gone With the Wind, but Gable didn't win either. Instead, the 1939 Oscar for Best Actor went to…Robert Donat for Goodbye, Mr. Chips?!!? As I recall from the one time I saw it back in high school, the film is a not-bad melodrama, and Donat convincingly ages about 50 years

I have to admit, I'm perversely curious (but hey, that's what this section is for!) about the lady you nailed. Was she in any way twinkish?

Assuming you're serious, do me a favor and Google "Chaos on Bullshit Mountain".

He has some game show, so he's on TV, just not on a show anyone is watching.

To be fair, it's on NBC Sports Network, i.e. the channel that seems to exist primarily to cover various Olympic sports during the three years that no one cares about them.

Haha, I wish. Nope, Don is/was a lot cooler than I am. I will say that I was an a.t.s regular from around 95 though 98 or so, and that you can find a lot of my reviews, as well as all sorts of other useless trivia throughout a lot (but by no means all) of the capsules for seasons 7-9, including the capsule for

I'm assuming one is Top Gun, but what's the other?

Were Veronica's Closet's third-year rating so awful that they couldn't get a 4th season? It's kind of a shame because I remember Season 1 being pretty funny (not Friends/Seinfeld funny, but a good deal better than Caroline in the City, Suddenly Susan, and The Single Guy). I think it fell off a cliff in terms of

Let's see…on Saturday, someone drove an SUV into my weekend workplace, a college prep tutoring company. The woman took out a plate glass window, a classroom full of furniture, the wall on the far side, and the wall of the room across the hall. Luckily, it happened late on Saturday afternoon, by which time those

I still can't believe a Rush Limbaugh wannabe is actually our lieutenant governor.

Thanks for the welcome! Except I've been out for years and years. And I've never made my preference for dudes a secret on here. And given that I was a college sophomore when this episode originally aired, I'm pretty far past my twink days. But if you want to see what I look like, my pic is posted in the selfie

NBC 1986-87 might be the highest percentage of new shows getting renewals in TV history. The network launched 8 shows that fall and renewed 7 of them for 87-88, including LA Law, Matlock, ALF, and Amen. Midseason wasn't as successful, but still, 3 out of 7 shows making it to season 2 isn't anything to sneeze at.

So have I. Indeed, at least a couple of times, Reposted Lt. Broccoli dug up an old review of mine.

I'm kind of surprised that the positive reviews far outnumbered the negatives. Frankly, I'm sort of surprised that college sophomore me liked the episode so much at the time. It probably helped that I was on the verge of giving up trying to convince myself I was straight (if I hadn't done so already), but I really

It should at least get a few people watching the premiere to see Chandler play Joey. Hopefully, it'll be good enough to sustain itself after the novelty of the casting fades.

The McCarthys wasn't a great show by any means, but I think it was better than its reputation. It also might be the first network show with a gay leading character where the entire premise of the series didn't revolve around his sexual orientation, so it should also be appreciated for that.
