Yes, this. I am mixed race and always have to correct people who label me black, not because there is anything wrong with being black, obviously, but it's bizarre and offensive how to this day people think that pairing up a black person and a white person will make black children, not mixed race ones.

I like this a lot, but I think they consciously chose not to do this because that's how the storytelling worked in ATLA. Here everything is messy and purposefully more ambiguous. Which isn't to say it worked 100% in LoK, but I appreciate this new direction for what it's worth.
