haha! well, DC bought me dinner and drinks that night, so i did not bitch too much.

I've always wanted to but have never had the chance or got around to it. would still like to.

you should take a look at Pathfinder, which in a lot of ways is kind of "3.6",

cool - i will put that on the "to-read" list. Gotham Central got me interested in the Brubaker/Lark run on Daredevil, which i loved. ditto Queen & Country. i don't read a lot of superhero stuff anymore, but i really liked both of those.

I didn't start gaming till my freshman year of college ('84 - yeah I'm old). I had bought the Basic D&D (RED BOX!) in jr. high, but couldn't get anyone interested in playing it. Kind of lost interest in the idea though H.S., and had other pursuits.

I think a lot of kids do that. Not really strange that you don't remember afterward, imo. The things we are most likely to recall are the ones that are singular or have a big emotional impact - our brains just work that way. Your parents trying to calm you down would naturally be less memorable.

well now you know…she could be having a moral crisis.

The only DC comic I have read and really enjoyed in the last ten years or so is Gotham Central.

I am trying to imagine the scene that happened after your 4 year old moment of existential dread in the car. Were you able to communicate to your parents what you felt, or did they just think you'd crapped yourself or something?

another advantage of Savage Worlds is that the books are very inexpensive, especially compared to most of the other games out there, and there are a lot free (legal) downloads available for it.

yeah, that was one thing that it lost - the 1st Spycraft book was really well indexed and organized. i dunno, the changes just seemed to alter the tone and flavor of our game, and we kinda petered out on it.

the one time i tried to game high (back in the 80's) i could not concentrate clearly enough to enjoy the game. i kept smoking, and i kept gaming, just not at the same time.

depends on what you're looking for I guess.

eff the haters. i really enjoyed this article, especially how you relate the experience to your childhood memories.
