Nope, it was actually eligible and nominated by the Belgians.

Any chance that Two Days, One Night (and other possible candidates) missed out because of nomination criteria (it happened before)? Like, that is was made in Belgium but financed from somewhere else?
I. Haven't. Finished. Yet.
They are both better at Michael Caine than Michael Caine:

Best cover album by far is I'm Not There. And the best song on that is Senor (Tales of Yankee power) by Willie Nelson. Also has a great Man in the Long Black Coat by Mark Lanegan (a song that has also been covered suprisingly well by Joan Osbourne).
What a pompous man, this Dave Chan. All this pathetic fake rage about hiring babysitters and not getting off on something that was already called "Cowboys and Aliens".
(although his worst crime is answering the first question by first stating how delighted he is to be here.)
The guitar duel in Crossroads; and especially Steve Vai' evil grin. Utterly ridiculous but great fun.
Folkies making pop records
… I would like to read about that. This (PP&M - I dig RnR Music) is such a weird song:
The passive agressiveness of it all. Also: hippy dancing.

Nick Cave on Better The Devil You Know by Kylie Minogue
So everything is
F.I.N.E.
Allright then; fire Phil after the gun incident and bring in Nick Lowe.
Stick! Stick! Stick!
Instead of fiddling around in the studio for years Springsteen could have hired a producer. Preferably Phil Spector who would put a gun to his head at the first day and get it over with in a week or two.

The blond … thing…
… it is Liberace isn't it?
Billy Gibbons
I like the new Roky Erickson album. But I read that there had been some talk that the album would be made not with Okkervil River but with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Strangely enough I think that would be even better for Billy Gibbons than for Erickson. The man seems to be able to do so much more than…
>>I just got back from a semester in Ireland, and I couldn't watch the preview to this without cringing. I sincerely hope this does not go to Irish cinemas
A Bit Of A Twat
I saw American standup comedian-living-in-Britain Reginald Hunter on the BBC this week. He was surprised by the way the Brits' relation to their friends: "Here's my mate Paul; he's a bit of a twat really'. It's like how they look at Clarkson.
I wouldn't call it humorless. There is a lot of laughs in the tension between being a superduper alien crimefighter and the mundanity of daily life in Wales. Gwen first found the Batcave-like headquarters of Torchwood by following a pizza delivery man.

Asbury Park 1970
It was probably a dump, but I would love to go to Greasy Lake with Crazy Janey and Hazy Davy wearing a coonskin cap. Oh the bittersweet feeling when I saw the waitress I was seeing parked with her loverboy out on the Kokomo.
