Good call. He carried a lot of those films, to the extent that they could be carried, which was mostly not, sadly. But Attack of the Clones especially leaned on McGegor. The other actor who did well in the prequels was Ian McDiarmid. The *real* heavy.

I also am very curious about which way the correlation runs.

More recently, Michelle Williams in Oz the Great and Powerful. Rachel Wiesz as well, but her part was fairly small. James Franco, on the other hand, gave the most cringeworthy performance I can think of ever having seen, offhand.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle, I recall as seeming almost completely pointless.

Hey, I went to see B&R twice. I was young then.

I agree about Clooney…but doubt that a watchable edit is possible.

I have to join in with the doubtlessly infinite chorus, and say that George Clooney is probably the worst part of Batman & Robin. The most miscast. Even Arnold and his painfully campy puns are not quite as bad. A lot of that film can be blamed in the writing, design and directing. But in Clooney's case, the casting

Really, that is an idea.

The new Batman should have "old guy cred" relative to Henry Cavill. He should be able to call Kal-El "junior" or "kid."

Hmmmmmmm…

Hard to argue with that…i.e. the Marvel characters bear resemblance to "regular people like you and me" thrown into fantastic situations. But I think that the DC characters have great potential for film adaption. Yeah, they are kind of like a pantheon representative of ideals and archetypes…but approaching them as

Right with you. I have been waiting for the Superman franchise to break out of its anachronistic crypt for so long, and finally Man of Steel did that. That makes me happy.

I agree about Richard White. He was my favorite character in Returns. Also Kitty.

Great comment. I am with you. I think that Superman has great dramatic potential and "humanity" in addition to action potential, and hopefully the next film will get into that more. But yeah, I also found Man of Steel exhilarating in a much-needed way, something Returns did not hit.

Good point. I liked Man of Steel in spite of its flaws, but in any case, if Returns is not automatically any good just because MoS is judged to not be. They both have strengths and weaknesses.

I personally consider Spacey's Luthor the maybe most miscast major character in any comic book adaption. He just does not work for me. Of course, that horrible oversized white trenchcoat and his exceptionally weak storyline don't help.

I certainly agree that Superman Returns merits some appreciation for its thoughtfulness and the "autumnal glory" of its visual concepts. But it is not the great Superman film. It has plenty of flaws in the casting, costumes, and especially the story. There are very good, legitimate reasons for its box office

@ Depth - bingo.

The Voice, in my view, systematically cannibalizes itself for drama, for the sake of ratings. It works for the show, but not Neccessarily for the contestants, and thus not for producing stars who outlive the show. Multiple times I have tuned in and seen someone i like, only for that person to almost immediately and

Man, you guys have some serious cynicism going on relative this song. Sure, the lyrics get a bit nonsensical in places, but I grant it some genuine emotional power. I have no interest in Friends or Korn, not really well-versed in Nickelback.
