I'm never confident enough in my ears or stereo equipment to judge one remaster against another. I tend to notice when something sounds awful or when it sounds great. These sound great. But then I thought the previous remasters didn't sound awful.

You're blurring a couple of things. Salem Mall had four theaters, including one they called the "Back Stage Theater," which meant you had to walk down a scary, behind-the-stores corridor to get there. It was where they tended to put their least popular films. (I saw NEW YORK STORIES there.)

That's always puzzled me. I asked Romero about it in an interview once and basically got a shrug. My guess: it was meant as a comedic gag that doesn't really play.
