Oh yeah: I also finished VILLETTE by Charlotte Bronte. It's really good. Parts of it are like a precursor to a giallo film. And I read a bunch of back issues of The Avengers in a perhaps futile attempt to read the whole series before the end of the year. I'm up to the issue where Quicksilver and Scarlet witch go see

I don't know what you're talking about. (Also, I corrected it.)

Despite good intentions, I didn't end up watching any movies, just last week's episode of COUGAR TOWN. (Hashtag; parentnow.) I did—like many others, I'm sure—listen to a lot of Monkees songs over the weekend, however. And Will Harris is right: HEADQUARTERS is a pretty terrific album by anyone's standards.

Truth: When I started as a freelancer I got $5 a review. That was a net loss if I did not go to see a matinee.

Have fun!

I can't hit "like" enough on this.

Hmm… I'd rank them 1, 3, 2. The second is my least favorite. All are good, though.

You're right. She's good too. In fact, everyone's pretty good and it is stylish but it all felt like it was ultimately in the service of a Luc Besson film. (Which, hey, I often like those but this seemed like it had the potential to be a lot more substantive.)

We know it! The Music Box is a treasure. I wish I could get there more often than I do.

I think I could watch LE SAMOURAI every day.

I spent part of the weekend catching up with some 2011 movies I missed: JANE EYRE and HANNA. I just reread JANE EYRE and liked the film version, even if it felt a little… brisk. Mia Wazikowska and Michael Fassbender were both well-cast even if, as Tasha is fond of pointing out, they don't exactly match up with

I prefer YETI:

Exactly.

Those pictures look a lot more cinematic than the images that made it into the film.

My time machine priorities:

Watching that doc on Wellman made me want to see WILD BOYS OF THE ROAD. It looks great.

[1] I goofed on the Meredith detail. Change made. (And I should see that version of OF MICE AND MEN.)

And, if you look closely, the guy who hung himself on the set of THE WIZARD OF OZ makes a cameo.

I think you can make a decent horror film within the limits of a PG-13 rating. Off the top of my head I'd offer the RING remake and INSIDIOUS.

Definitely. Worth watching that and THE GREAT ROCK AND ROLL SWINDLE as a double feature. And then wonder how the same guy did both.
