Would you call Tom Petty that?

That's such a great moment. Parsons singing a soul song in a country style and singing from a woman's point of view without a hint of camp or condescension. It's the track the sums up what he was going for with Cosmic American Music, to my ears.

They're releasing MYSTERY tour and a combined PAST MASTERS to scoop up the rest.

I used to be skeptical about these sorts of things but did you hear those remastered Stones CDs from a few years back? Amazing. Same with the Sam Cooke box. Whoever reworks the ABKCO catalog should be hired for everything.

…ever?

I liked the remake of the BLOB. But it remade it as an '80s horror movie rather than trying to emulate the original.

What blew me away seeing him live was his guitar playing. I mean, I knew he could play, but he can _play_.

Just revisited Four Star the other week. Looking good. And they stock Region 2 DVDs for those with magic, all-region players.

I like it, too. I'm a sucker for Air anyway and I've always found her charming.

"though" not "those"

You should definitely pick this up, those it's not necessarily representative of the rest of his music, which changed styles frequently. This is probably the best, single-disc collection in the U.S.:

Also a little inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's MELODY NELSON album, reviewed here tomorrow.

Crap. Okay, Harry Potter and Sue Storm. Sue could never be corrupted, not even by beefcake-y Namor.

The exception
The invisibility cloak link reminded me of the great exception to what I said above: Harry Potter.

Oh, I'd say "really good." I didn't mean to undersell it.

By the end, after extracting much of the MAXIM DNA, BLENDER turned into a pretty decent music magazine. Oh well.

An addition
There's a really good article on Ron Asheton in this month's BLENDER that details the Stooges' guitarist's friendship with the aging Larry Fine. Asheton would bust Fine out of the Hollywood retirement home and take him to the tracks.

Yes, they have YES, GIORGIO?
Yes, they have YES, GIORGIO!

Whoops. HTML fail.
