Fixed
Yeah, that went up a little too fast because I had to catch a plane. And I fixed it at the airport. You are welcome, readers.

Yeah…
This is just getting slammed by everyone else and I have no defense beyond it made me laugh enough times for me to recommend it. Maybe I need to get off the SNL-stars-making-movies-about-trying-to-please-father-figures-through-outrageous-behavior-that-also-feature-Will-Arnett beat since I also mildly recommended…
SCANNERS and CRASH
I like those films a lot too and they were both in the way-too-long original draft of this thing. But that was way too long and I really didn't want it to lose sight of its Cronenberg-for-beginners aim.
Cult-dom beckons
I'm really happy to see this film getting the cult following it deserves. I gave the film one of few unabashedly positive reviews and I think even I underrated it. This film has stuck with me like few others.
H.G. Wells
I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that, as an H.G. Wells adaptation, this synchs up nicely with my piece on FOOD OF THE GODS from last week. It' also worth noting that the 1933 version of this story, THE ISLAND OF LOST SOULS with Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi is a) Excellent, b) Frustratingly…
Richter
Yep. Sorry. Sometimes you just run out of room and Richter definitely deserves a lot of credit for this. And the talent here is top-to-bottom awesome: Michael Chapman's cinematography is eerily perfect, getting the feel of San Francisco right on top of everything else. And there's a great one-off score by…
Owen Wilson
Oh man, that whole thing make me so sad. I even almost saw YOU, ME AND DUPREE because of Wilson. (Almost.) I hope he finds his way back soon.
Pico21
Fair enough. That'll teach me to reference a book I haven't read in a while. Also, Gulliver fought giant (to him) animals there, too. So maybe we would have gotten KONG without FOTG. Hmm…

Scott Tobias…
…has the strength of 10 men.
Robie
It's there. You have to search under "groups." And there's a link above.
MySpace
We're working on it. The Onion's MySpace page is so sharp we don't want to half-ass it. (Note, we reserve the right to half-ass it since just about everyone else does on MySpace.)
"Why would they come to our concert just to boo us?"
That is all.
The mirror has two faces
Shep, I think you're on to something. The Seigel version is almost like one of those optical illusions where it's at once a beautiful woman and an old crone. It's anti-Red. No, it's anti-McCarthy. He was good at that sort of thing. See also DIRTY HARRY.
Names and such
Sorry guys, we're playing around with the registration system to add some bells and whistles for our registered users. That's also why you've seen those weird halos around some users' posts. We're still working out the kinks.
Pulping the intro
They said he couldn't read them all. He said, "Watch me."
Ain't It Cool
We bash Ain't It Cool all the time? When? Where? The newswire occasionally references its exclamation points, but is that bashing? When I was talking to AICN's Capone the other night at a screening he didn't seem too upset with me. Do I need to pull him out like Marshall McLuhan in ANNIE HALL to show you…
Fleischer's Superman
You can find good transfers of the Fleischer Superman cartoons on the latest DVDs of SUPERMAN and SUPERMAN II. I think the ones on SUPERMAN II are from after the Fleischers got squeezed out of their own company, however. They also include some really unfortunate WWII propaganda, particularly the…
Chuck D
Chuck D's case for Elvis being racist is based on a rumor investigated and refuted at the time by, if I recall correctly, Ebony magazine. (It's in the Guralnick bio.) Love "Fight The Power," but I choke on those words every time.
Oops.
I forgot to mention that I like Gail Simone too. Actually, to be honest I never found a good jumping on point for Birds Of Prey, but I've admired the issues I've read and I'm looking forward to Wonder Woman.
