Joseph Campbell
Is he the one who made the soup or the one whose books folks read their freshman year of college and think they've stumbled on the keys to how the universe work?

Notice
I'll try to go deeper than that next week.

Josie And The Pussycats
Your comment made me laugh out loud. Time to up your game, Hater commenter.

Mignola
I really like Mignola. So while Tasha's fatigued, I'll probably review the next trade that comes around. Wish he was still drawing his own stuff, however, though the replacement's not bad at all.

Nerdish fun fact
The O.C. and Stiggs stories also inspired Alan Moore's prankish space aliens D.R. And Quinch.

Hey, everyone who wants to debate whether or not THE SIMPSONS is still relevant… save your breath! There will be a better forum for this on Friday. That is all.

The Simpsons = Yay! No, The Simpsons = Boo1

Short sentences
It was an homage to James Ellroy. Hey! That's it! All the mistakes of my self-edited posts are homages to Ellroy.

Sturgeon
He's in the box. (Nice short sentence. No missing words.)

The inside dope
When we divvy up the assignments we try to keep Nathan on a strict no-more-than-one-terrible-looking-comedy-a-week diet in the interest of his health. I only I wish that was a joke.

Le Penguin
Do you work at Simon's in Chicago or is there another bar where AMC and Cubs games are the defaults?

Still Looks…
You could do a lot worse. It starts off pretty good and the leads are great. But it lost me from about the halfway point on.

Thompson / Flashman
No Thompson, sadly. I'm definitely a fan. Nathan Rabin's an even bigger fan if you ever want to talk Thompson.

Cockfighter / Stark
No COCKFIGHTER in the box, but I've read and highly recommend it. The movie's great, too. And they're really different beasts, too since (unless I'm misremembering), the novel is told in first-person but since the character is (voluntarily) mute, Warren Oates plays the part without dialogue.

Questions / Answers
Did I enjoy it?: Yes. Absolutely. Maybe I switched into cultural historian mode too soon. It's a gripping read and I really liked the attention to place and emphasis on the routine parts of undercover work. (Which apparently requires a lot of smoking and drinking. At some point Fleming gives the

Totally Dude
Shop Boyz are the black Red Hot Chili Peppers? I was sure that Gym Class Heroes were the black Red Hot Chili Peppers. At least that's what "Cupid's Chokehold" sounds like to me.

Quidditch question
Prisoner of Asskaban: Because that's the way it works, that's why.

IMAX, adaptations, etc.
Scott has read none of the books and has also purged any joy and wonder from his heart and was thus underwhelmed. Tasha and I have read all the books and both liked it better.

Vance, Bolan, etc.
Vance is in the box. I'm not doing this in any particular order beyond a vague notion of alternating the well-known with the obscure. I'll bump Vance up on your description.

One more thing
On the idea of a Fourth World movie: John Byrne insists that the '80s MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE movie is basically a Fourth World movie (and not that bad.) I haven't seen it so I can't say.
