And the photo above is from Beyond Re-animator which they don't discuss. Found Castle Freak to be a pleasant surprise.

Agreed. And it's a shame David Gale died in the early 90s - he was a good actor, even if he was a dead ringer for John Kerry.
I also just watched it over the weekend - felt kind of disappointed, even after seeing Dr. Hill's head flying around with bat wings. It was almost more of a rehash, except no where near as good, like an inverse Evil Dead > Evil Dead 2. Still, Combs is always good with his one-liners.
Good casting. When I read the novel, I kept picturing Brad Leland (Buddy Garrity from Friday Night Lights) as Big Jim Renner.
Favorite Ballard short story? (Mine's Billenium.)
Question (probably a stupid one, big surprise): Do you need to know anything at all about the prior UniSol flicks to "get" this one?
Wow. Reminds me of the whole Clint Eastwood Talking to Empty Chair thing. Weird to see, and wish it hadn't been the case - a case of Lifetime Pass being put to the test.

That occurred to me as well. Good and well-made, but very hard to watch. I watched it on my laptop during a long train ride. I could sense people behind me sneaking peeks at my monitor. Man, that was awkward.

Ever see Betrayal? It's about an adulterous affair, also told in reverse chronological order. Not as good as Memento, but with Jeremy Irons and Ben Kingsley, you could do a lot worse.

I would've said "dear life," but yours is better.

Wow. Hilarious.

Agreed on all points.
- If they were to get Milius to direct, I'd go from ironically interested to genuinely intrigued.
- Compose a script that keeps Arnold's lines to a minimum (not sure he'd sign on for that, but hey, this is a wish list).
- Get Sven Ole Thorsen to have a small role (probably wearing a face-disguising…

Thought the same thing, and thought it was the worst of the three, until the final half hour or so happened. Got really good in a big damn hurry.
