I don't understand the hate directed at the story and minor plot holes in the prequels. The actual problem was that they featured poor dialogue, poor acting, poor directing, poor editing, and the extreme overuse of (poor) special effects.

If you think burning down a building is amazing, you should see some of the stuff they made the stuntmen do! Or, for example, in filming the flood for Noah's Ark (1928) the lunatic director flooded the set without letting the extras know in advance so the reactions would be more natural (killing three people).
