Because it's crowded wall-to-wall with people, mostly gaping and staring at chain stores (OMG! A giant Toys'R' US!) and weirdos wearing knockoff Elmo costumes, plus dozens of other people trying to convince you to go to comedy shows via handbill.
It's definitely up there. At no point do they ever take me out of the "reality of the show". Very similar to Louie in that regard. It's absurdified, but still recognizably true.
