I think if you know what you're getting & that sounds good to you, you'll like it.  I, too, thought The Hobbit was better than it reviewed (though not as good as I'd hoped/as it could have been).

If someone else hadn't mentioned how good young Ms. Kunis looks in this movie, I was gonna.  So thanks for saving me the time & effort!

Triumph of the Will is still viewed as a landmark cinematic achievement, despite, you know, all the Nazi stuff.

So, this isn't on Netflix Instant anymore?  Bummer—I queued it up ages ago, even started watching it not once but twice, but never got very far.

For a lot of shoddier websites, such misuse would be easier to shrug off.  But the good ol' AV Club writing & editorial staff is usually sharper.  Correct away, I say!

It says, "Romans go home!"

The plural for deus ex machina would be dei ex machina (or ex machinis).  Deus is 2nd declension nominative singular & machina, as the object of the preposition ex, is in the ablative case (indicating place from which).

Stupid spoons!  All I need is a KNIFE!

The figure I most often hear/read is about 10%, so I was being somewhat generous. But, yeah, surveys might indeed under-report.

I call bullshit on the Roman Emperors remark.  Very few of them were practicing homosexuals, & even those who were were at least bisexual (or, in the case of Caligula, into pretty much anything).  Even Alexander the Great would not, in today's terms, be considered (just) gay, since he had female lovers & was married.

Whatever was happening (before I got here) ain't happening no more.  All quiet on the Disqus front.

Man, I wish I hated The Amazing Spider-Man. I'd prefer SOME strong emotion to all the meh.  Many, if not most, remakes/reboots are pointless, but The Amazing Spider-Man may very well be the least necessary re-do yet.  But I believe in you, Hollywood—I just KNOW you can clear that bar!

"My Wandering Days Are Over" is the first B&S song I remember hearing. There was a stretch back in the early '00s where I was listening regularly to internet radio via iTunes, usually Indie Pop Rocks!  They played a lot of stuff I was unfamiliar with, but I started to notice something: Rather often, when a sing caught
