Jessica's song is weird, but at least it isn't as disturbing as Santa's "if you sit in my lap today, a kiss a toy is the price you'll pay" song.  I still have a VHS copy of the special I bought in the 90s, so I watch that rather than what airs on TV, & I've wondered if that song gets cut.  Does it, @hornacek:disqus?

Yeah, that's a little much for a kids' show.  I mean, even Bambi's mom dies off screen, & she doesn't die explicitly saving her son's life.

That one actually is called The Cricket in Times Square.  My son read the book for school last year (1st grade).  I don't think I've ever seen the cartoon adaptation, though.

I remember doing a Hobbit project as a 6th grader, as much inspired by the R/B movie as by Tolkien's book.  I drew a replica of Thorin's map to go along with it.  Man, I haven't seen that TV Hobbit in years & years.
