It's been a while since I've seen it, but my memory is that she doesn't KNOW he's only 12 (inside) when she seduces him. I also seem to recall her being upset when she finds out.

The pie-in-the-face/hip-deep-in-pie exchange is one of my absolute favorites of the whole series, just from sheer perfect phrasing. Sorkin is always Sorkin, but the man can write.

My favorite Grodin movie is Midnight Run. Not only is Grodin himself great, but everybody else is perfect as well—especially Dennis Farina (whom I'd never seen before MR). John Ashton! Joey Pants! Yaphet Motherfucking Kotto!

Agreed. Like if it had been a Bobcat Goldthwait movie, just not giving a shit what anybody thought.

Good call, @avclub-ab884d1105328901d4a4e54f3c3c8def:disqus. Hanks is the exception that proves the rule. Big is also well written & directed, also a rarity in the adults-playing-children genre.

Just watched Benji with my 5-year-old daughter. I remembered nothing about it, except that I liked it as a kid (I was born in '70; Benji came out in '73). At 87 minutes it's short but damn is it padded out. A lot of scenes of Benji running through the town. A LOT. The 5-year-old enjoyed it, though.

Could be backlash against giving kids too much importance in our society. The '50s/'60s saw the invention of the American teenager. Teen delinquent-type movies soon followed. The '80s/'90s is the beginning of the era of spoiled Baby Boomers' kids, privileged & entitled. The psychopath kid is maybe just an…

How about "The Lovely Bones"?
Wow. OK, so maybe "sympathetic" isn't the right word here. I am a fan of the show, & I'd prefer to see it continue rather than disappear because of contract negotiation breakdown. And yes, when SO much money is being made, I suppose I'd rather the talent make it than the suits, though I'd be hard pressed to…

I'm not sure the premise of this feature requires it to be a new thing recorded just for the AV Club. That said, I'd prefer it to be new stuff, & if it's not, maybe a note in the write-up to that effect?
