i think this show and Louie operate on different levels but that doesn't necessarily mean Louie always works on a higher or better level. It has become so bleakly cynical, focused on the weird over the well rounded or real.

I hope it gets at least that if not a third season. Hello Ladies got one and it wrapped up the show nicely. But Enlightened* didn't so I'm starting to wonder if that was just a bone thrown to Hello Ladies since it didn't get a second season when most HBO comedies do get as second chance.

I think that has more to do with competition. There was no TVcompetition for the third episode. The fifth episode faced SNL's 40th anniversary special which got blockbuster ratings.

I think he was just glad he wasn't involved with that mess of a many any longer. Look at the way he giddily danced back to his current squeeze.

I think it has always been a Patrick-centered show. Last season's Ep 5 convinced me of it and the fact that both love interests were promoted to regulars solidified it.

I don't think Richie's "he's more fun than you" was unnecessarily cold. Given what ups and downs they had, it's probably true. But I don't think that's why Richie said it.
