It doesn't help that so much of the format of that series was designed in such a way that a film couldn't adequately match it- and that's before we get to the issue of finding people as funny as Jay Ward and associates.

Cartoon Network in the 1990s ended up rerunning all of them, just to demonstrate how low that company could go…..

It lasted on radio, in various formats, for something like a quarter-century!

It was the Hanna-Barbara way- a lot of their programs had surprisingly short runs when you do the episode count.

And you were one of the lucky ones…..

Given that Moller can't get his flying car off the ground after a half-century of trying…..

And in a position where, once the continent broke off, the breaks wouldn't have stopped!

And a microphone?

And really depressing, when you realize that George O'Hanlon and Mel Blanc didn't live to complete it….

As if to prove a point!

With Frank Welker playing five roles, because of course he would!

It wasn't- and the animated movie that came from that was even worse….

Mind you, when Kinja comes, will anyone be left who isn't a gimmick account?

It could be that they all realize quickly how bad an idea it is and run the other way….

And it really can't help matters any that the original series was essentially "generic 1960s sitcom IN SPACE!", so they don't really gain much from this connection.

Or like the sort of thing you do in response to getting fired….

I was just in Northridge, and there was clearly no there there…..

Mind you, Aykroyd hasn't been a good judge as for what is and isn't funny for a very long time now….

They're even more desperate than we thought……

And I doubt the point will be them roaming through a virtually empty mall…..
