Where are the people nostalgic for 1940s/1950s New York? That seems to me a hell of a lot more interesting than the 1970s variant that is obsessed over so.

True, but there's always Gresham's Law to keep in mind in such situations.

Is it wrong that I get the biggest kick out of the footage at the end showing two of the real Newton Boys giving interviews in the 1970s and 1980s?

Especially since this is a discussion of filmography, rather than an individual film- you can't really make a coherent argument of that nature without a specific focus.

Are we sure that was what he wanted, as opposed to what he had to do?

And note that some of the episodes in that first season had under a million viewers, so another part of it was the patience of AMC in building an audience.

Well, it looks likely that MST3K is going to be going off the air again- why not use them to replace it?

Quite- I can't say if this would have been good if it were sincere, but it probably would have been more interesting…..

And it can't help that he's been dabbling with being a big-shot for a decade or so now without being particularly effective at being one…..
