The Suburbs is a summer album for me, but that's partially because it came out during a summer where I was unemployed and back home from college in the suburbs. I related to so many of those songs and still do.

My parents and I went to see a taping of Michael Feldman's Whad'ya Know at NYU. I'm not a super huge fan of his show but the taping as a whole had its moments of greatness. He had Sarah Jessica Parker (surprisingly charming), Loudon Wainwright III (hilarious, maybe the best part), Paul Simms (a good interview for

I remember lying to my orchestra conductor about having a phone interview so I could get out of my rehearsal early enough to see the Lost season 6 premiere with my friends. A year or so later I feigned illness to said conductor to go see Broken Social Scene. Another year later I just outright didn't show up to

Perhaps I'll give that a shot after I'm done with 1984. I read Homage to Catalonia about 4 years ago and didn't think much of it so I've never thought to pick up his other non-fiction work.

So that's why people were chanting "let's go Mets!" on the way out. Shows how much I've been following baseball this season. I agree the show was great though.

I started reading 1984 for the first time, which I somehow evaded reading in high school. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying this, I never liked the other two Orwell books I've read for classes.

I spent this weekend in Cape Cod with some friends so most of my pop-culture experiences are shared.

Also, Pegasus and New Caprica! Never would have pegged Andy as a BSG fan.

I think all Lost fans can agree that Stranger in a Strange Land was just as bad, if not worse than Expose. I've re-watched most episodes of Lost multiple times, but Bai Ling shall never sully my viewing experience again.

Yup, my minor is officially called Chinese even though I specifically study Mandarin. That being said, Alex's Chinese sounded pretty horrendous, worse than some of the Chinese in Firefly.

Any episode with Burt Macklin, FBI is good in my book.

I went to see two college theater productions that I had friends performing in. Friday night was Wendy Wasserstein's Uncommon Women and Others which I had never seen or read before. Wendy is an alumna of my college and it was part of a year long retrospective of her career. Certainly some aspects of the play are

I've been saying that for as many years as I've been a Smiths fan. They broke up before I was born but I'd do anything to just see Morrissey and Marr play my favorite songs together even if it was years past their prime. It's the closest I'd ever get anyway.

I watched with a few friends tonight, and during a commercial for The Five Year Engagement I mentioned how much seeing Alison Brie and Chris Pratt in the same thing was kind of off putting to me. I love Community and Parks so much but the tones and universes are so different that having them mix doesn't work for me.

My parents work in law enforcement so maybe they just didn't want to raise a violent kid who'd turn out like so many of the people they deal with at work but they never wanted me to fight back. I don't know how things would have turned out differently if I had, but then again I'm a girl, and so were most of my bullies
